MY WORK

Reclining nude by Pat Kent

Reclining nude by Pat Kent

Drawn originally back in 1974 or thereabouts, as a response to a wonderful oil nude done by one of my school friends, Pat Mulrey. It started out as a pencil sketch and was supposed to be finished as an oil painting also. My schoolfriend broke the taboo of doing the first nude study in a Catholic school and so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon.

The sketch has languished in a folder for nearly 35 years now, and on seeing another series of wonderful Cho sketches recently, I noticed similarlities to pose and form and so I've sort of resurrected it.

Although, I must point out and add that the image displayed is now more akin to Cho's piece than mine, this is simply my rendition of Cho's piece with a nod to the past and a bit of a re-working of the face and body to make it a bit more representative of what is now, rather than then.
