MY WORK
Hooray for Captain Spalding!
Comedy heroes?
Top of the list for me is undoubtedly the late great Groucho Marx.
There are numerous others, mainly from that post-war period of British comedy Milligan, Sellers, Bentine [essentially the Goons], Sykes, Tommy Cooper, Morecombe and Wise, Frankie Howard and most of the Carry-on team, but it is Groucho who takes the top spot.
I still have great memories of a school mate doing a Groucho impression whilst reading The Merchant of Venice...."Thou stickest a dagger in me Tubal" never sounded the same after that.
