In between holding down a regular day job my brother Matt, in his "spare" time, takes pictures of rock bands. And, to be honest, they all tend to be rather excellent.
I know you will say I am biased but I have been a fan of concert photography for many a year and I seriously think that the current crop of photographers do not have the same dynamic going for them as did the greats like Jill Furmanovsky, Mick Rock, Gered Mankowitz and Nobby Clark, to name probably the only decent photographers of that genre, however, I do think that, nepotism apart, Matt produces some of the best concert images around and he's not your stereotypical "rock" photographer either, he's a nice bloke as well who shuns leather, fake tan and name-dropping in favour of committment and integrity...and he's happy to talk to anyone that shows an interest or is interesting in themselves.
No-one is better than photographing the WHO, the greatest rock and roll band in the world than he, as his latest set of pictures from the WHO's recent acoustic set at the 2008 TCT gig show.
I've inclued a couple here and on the "Friends" pages as low res or small images, but there are many more on his own website. Do yourself a favour and check them out. ww.mattkent.co.uk
